Kellogg & Caterpillar Join Majestic Team - Atlanta, GA
Continued growth in the Atlanta, GA marketplace is
evidenced at Majestic Airport Center II (MAC II) with the recent addition
of Kellogg Co., Caterpillar, Inc. and Genco Distribution
System. Combined, they account for over 1.4 million sq. ft. of leases executed at MAC
II in 2001. With the addition of the above mentioned tenants, Majestic Airport Center II has
grown to 2.5 million sq. ft. in less than two years.
Kellogg Co., the world's largest producer of ready-to-eat cereal, and a
leading producer of convenience foods, joined Majestic's portfolio with a 903,000-sq. ft.
lease in May 2002. Known for its slogan "The Best 2 You" and the popular Frosted Flakes
cereal that puts a "Tiger in your Tank", Kellogg Co. is an American-owned organization that
has a true global market. "Kellogg has been in business since 1906 and we are proud to
include them in our portfolio," said Stan Conway, vice president of Majestic.
After months of searching and negotiations, Caterpillar Inc., the world's
largest manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, leased a 220,000-sq. ft. facility
at MAC II for its regional distribution center. The building is expandable to 400,000-sq.
ft. One of Caterpillar's main objectives while searching for a location was to find a
building that offered the option to expand. Our location offered just that. Known for its
rugged, durable, genuine machines, Caterpillar is a Fortune 500 company with dealers in
nearly 200 countries.
Genco Distribution System (Genco), a logistics provider specializing in
"return processing" for manufacturers, retailers and e-commerce, recently signed leases at
MAC II, for 300,842-sq. ft. The building and location, referred to by Genco as a "show case"
facility, was selected for its superior infrastructure and outstanding labor force. Genco
has 80 plus locations totaling 14 million sq. ft. throughout North America and Australia
and processes over $6 billion in annual returns.
In recent years, Majestic Airport Center II, located along South Fulton
Parkway, has established itself as the favored location on Atlanta's south side snaring
additional top-flight companies such as GE Appliances, GE Energy,
and COSTCO Corp.
When Stan Conway of Majestic was asked to what he would attribute the
success at the park, he stated that it is the park's convenient interstate access, proximity
to the region's strong labor base, and competitive rental rates.
Majestic has approximately 61 acres remaining which is capable of
supporting an additional 1 million sq. ft. of product within the park.
