Steelcase Inc. Celebrates Grand Opening in City of Industry

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. (December 30, 2002) - Steelcase Inc., a leading maker of fine office furnishings, just celebrated the grand opening of its new, 450,000-sq. ft. regional offices and manufacturing and distribution center in the City of Industry. The facility is located in the Majestic Grand Crossing industrial park at 388 Mayo Avenue.

At a festive grand opening celebration held Dec. 14, complete with food, entertainment and face painting for employees’ children, Steelcase officials said they were pleased to be in the City of Industry.

"By moving to this state-of-the-art facility, we will be able to streamline our manufacturing and distribution process," said Mark Baker, Vice President, Steelcase Inc. Previously, the company was located in Tustin.

City officials and other civic leaders were on hand at the event to welcome the company to the San Gabriel Valley. Meanwhile, Steelcase employees and their families used the opportunity to tour the new facility for the first time.

"Steelcase is a leader in the office furnishing industry, and we are so proud to welcome this company to Grand Crossing and to City of Industry," said Kent Valley, broker for Majestic Realty Co., the owner-developer of Majestic Grand Crossing.

To be developed in six phases, Grand Crossing is a 400-acre business park that will feature 25 state-of-the art buildings encompassing 6.4 million sq. ft. of industrial space and 200,000-sq. ft. of space for big box retail at build-out. Steelcase joins a tenant roster at Grand Crossing, including SYNNEX Information Technologies; W.A.C. Lighting Co., and IN WIN Development (USA) Inc.
